4/25/11 Green-tailed Towhee
Afternoon baths are a favorite for this thicket loving summer resident. Easily visible with its rust top knot, black & white throat and soothing olive green sides and tail.
4/18/11 Savannah Sparrow
This thrilling visitor showed up in the habitat at the store fluttering around the pond among early leafed shrubs & grassess. It's a first for us!
4/18/11 Broad-tailed Hummingbird
Just like clockwork - the first sighting of our annual visitor came on (delayed) tax day. Commonly confused, look for the white chin not seen on the Ruby-throated Hummingbird for accurate identification. Remember to feed only 4:1 water to sugar with NO RED FOOD COLORING!
